Canadian Dental Care Plan in Langley.
Creekside Dental accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We bill the plan directly, pre-authorise treatment when it's needed, and show you any co-pay before we start, so there are no surprise bills.
Got your CDCP letter? Here's what's next.
You've been approved for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, and now you want to know whether a dentist near you takes it. We do. Book a visit, bring your member ID, and our team handles the claim with the plan. If it has been a while since your last checkup, that's okay. We'll start with where you are today.
What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan, exactly?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program that helps pay for dental care for eligible Canadian residents who don't have dental insurance. It isn't insurance you buy, and there is no fee to apply or renew. Applications for the 2026-2027 benefit period are open now.
The plan pays part or all of the cost of covered services, depending on your family income. You use it at a dental office that accepts the CDCP, like Creekside Dental, and the office bills the plan for you. You can read the full program details on canada.ca.
Who qualifies for the CDCP?
To be eligible, you need to meet all four of these:
No private dental coverage
Generally, you can't have dental insurance through work, a pension, a family member's plan, or a health spending account that covers dental. One exception: some retirees who opted out of pension dental coverage before December 11, 2023, and can't opt back in, may still qualify.
Retired and opted out of pension dental coverage? Check the exception
Your taxes are filed
You (and your spouse or partner, if you have one) filed a tax return in Canada for last year.
Family income under $90,000
Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000 a year.
You live in Canada
You (and your spouse or partner) are Canadian residents for tax purposes.
Not sure? The full eligibility rules are on canada.ca, and Service Canada makes the final decision. If you have dental coverage through work, our insurance & benefits page explains how we direct-bill your plan instead.

What we can bill to the CDCP.
These are the services we offer at Creekside Dental that fall under the plan:
Checkups and cleanings
Dental exams, x-rays, and cleanings, plus fluoride and sealants. These are the visits that keep small problems small.
Fillings, root canals and gum care
Fillings for cavities, root canal treatment for infected teeth, and gum treatment, including cleaning below the gumline.
Crowns, extractions and sedation
Tooth removal, including wisdom teeth, and oral sedation if you need help feeling calm. Crowns are covered too, but the plan has to approve them first, and we send that request for you.
Coverage varies by procedure, clinical need and the plan's frequency limits, and some services need approval first, including some kinds of sedation. The CDCP coverage page lists every covered service. We check yours before treatment.
Your share of the cost
What you'd pay, at a glance.
The CDCP pays a share of its own set fee for each covered service. How big a share depends on your adjusted family net income.
| Family income | CDCP pays | Your co-pay |
|---|---|---|
| Under $70,000 | 100% | 0% |
| $70,000 to $79,999 | 60% | 40% |
| $80,000 to $89,999 | 40% | 60% |
If our fee for a service is more than the CDCP fee, or you choose something the plan doesn't cover, you pay the difference. We show you any amount in writing before treatment, so you can decide first.

What to bring, and what to expect.
Your first visit starts with a conversation, then an exam and any x-rays you need. Before any treatment, Dr. Brian Hu goes over what he found and you get a written plan, with any co-pay shown first.
- Your CDCP member ID (and your children's, if they're coming too)
- A piece of identification
- Your coverage start date and co-payment level, from your CDCP letter
- A list of any medications you take
- Past x-rays, if you have them
You don't need to wait for your Sun Life card to arrive. Your coverage does need to be active, so book for a date on or after your coverage start date. Our team will also verify that your coverage is active before treatment.

Your CDCP questions, answered.
Does Creekside Dental accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
Yes. We treat CDCP patients at our Langley clinic and bill the plan directly. Bring your member ID and we'll handle the paperwork.
Will I have to pay anything at my visit?
It depends on your family income and the treatment. Some CDCP members have a co-pay, and if our fee for a service is more than the CDCP pays, we show you the difference first. You'll always know any amount before we start.
What if a treatment needs preauthorization?
Some services, like crowns, need the plan's approval before treatment. We send the request for you and go over the answer with you before anything is booked.
Can my children use their CDCP coverage here?
Yes. Children are added as dependants on your CDCP application. Once they are covered, bring their member ID to their visit. Our children's dentistry page explains what a kids' visit looks like.
I have dental insurance through work. Can I use the CDCP?
Generally, no. If you can get private dental coverage through work, a pension, a family member or a health spending account, you don't qualify, even if you never use it. The one exception is some retirees who opted out of pension dental coverage before December 11, 2023, and can't opt back in. We direct-bill most major insurers instead; see insurance & benefits.
Do I need to renew my CDCP coverage every year?
Yes. Coverage runs for one benefit period, which ends each June 30, and you renew every year to confirm you still qualify. The 2026 renewal period closed on June 1, 2026, and renewals for 2027-2028 open in spring 2027. If you miss it, you can apply again, but care during the gap isn't covered. See renewing your CDCP coverage on canada.ca.
Does the CDCP cover dental implants or cosmetic treatment?
Implants, veneers and teeth whitening are not on the CDCP list of covered services. If you are thinking about one of them, we give you written pricing before anything begins.
Let's check your CDCP coverage.
Book online or call us. We'll confirm your CDCP coverage and any co-pay before your visit, so you know what to expect when you arrive.
