Most dental problems are preventable. Cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss don't happen overnight — they develop slowly when small issues go unnoticed. Regular check-ups catch problems early, when they're easier and less expensive to fix. An appointment today can prevent a root canal tomorrow.
Dr. Brian Hu and our hygienists bring years of experience to every appointment. We take the time to explain what we find, answer your questions, and make sure you understand your options before any treatment. No lectures, no judgement — just honest care focused on keeping your mouth healthy.
General dentistry questions.
How often should I visit the dentist?
Most people benefit from a check-up and cleaning every six months. If you have gum disease, a history of cavities, or other concerns, we may recommend more frequent visits — we'll set a schedule based on your needs.
What's included in a dental exam?
A comprehensive exam includes checking your teeth for decay, examining your gums, assessing your bite, screening for oral cancer, and reviewing any X-rays. We also check existing fillings and crowns to make sure they’re holding up.
Do cleanings hurt?
For most patients, cleanings are comfortable. If you have sensitive teeth or gum inflammation you might feel some discomfort — let us know and we can adjust our approach or use a numbing gel.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Yes. Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film — about the same as you'd get from a short flight — and we only take them when they're needed for diagnosis.
What if I haven't been to the dentist in years?
No judgement here — we see patients who've avoided the dentist for decades. We take things at your pace, address any urgent issues first, and build a realistic plan to get your oral health back on track.
Do you see children?
Yes. We treat kids and families together, and our team is experienced at helping children feel comfortable and build positive associations with dental care.
